Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network

Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network is a not-for profit organisation which has been supporting and delivering primary health programs for 30 years. Its purpose is to create connected, dynamic and equitable healthcare through empowered workforce and communities.. It delivers the PHN program across approximately 126,000 square kilometres to more than 250,000 people living in 508 communities.

MedicinesEd received a Healthy Connections Community Grant to deliver a series of face-to-face and online workshops across the Hilltops and Snowy Valley regions. This covered general medicines management topics, along with using medicines for COPD (lung disease) and mental health.

Following the series of workshops peoples’ ability to interpret all aspects of a pharmacy label increased by 48%.

After coming to the workshops, 62% of participants indicated they were more likely to ask questions of their healthcare professionals about medicines.

Participants’ level of confidence also improved in the following areas:

•73% of participants felt more confident understanding the pharmacy label on their medicines.

• 75% felt more confident asking their health care professional about their medicines.

• 77% felt more confident knowing where to find trusted information about their medicines.
